RefWorks is an online research management service that allows you to:

• organize your research in a personal database,
• format your bibliographies and footnotes in virtually any style,
• and import your references from a variety of databases.

Since it is web-based, once you have set up your personal account, you can access RefWorks anywhere you can connect to the Internet. It is available to all current CSU students, faculty, and staff.

Information for First-Time Users

First-time users of RefWorks will need to set up an individual account.

1. Use this link to go to the RefWorks login page: Login to RefWorks
2. Click on the Sign up for a New Accountlink.
3. Complete the online form and click on the Register button.
4. Begin using RefWorks.

You will receive an email confirming your login name and password along with a subscriber group code which you can use to login to Refworks when you are off-campus and you are not logging in from this library's website. See "Accessing Your RefWorks Citations & Folders" below.

Accessing Your RefWorks Citations & Folders

Now that you have set up an individual account, you can access your citations and folders on the Web from anywhere.

If you are on-campus:

Any link to RefWorks will take you to the Michael Schwartz Library RefWorks login page. Simply enter your login name and password.

If you are off-campus:

Using the library's website - Clicking on the link to RefWorks will take you first to the library's "authentication page" where you will first need to login with your name, CSU ID number, and PIN. After successful authentication, you will be taken to the Michael Schwartz Library RefWorks login page. Simply enter your login name and password.

Using a link from another website - You will need to use the subscriber code that was supplied to you via email after you registered for your individual account. If you no longer have that code, please call Reference Services at (216) 687-5300. After you have entered the subscriber code, you will be taken to the Michael Schwartz Library RefWorks login page where you can login using your login name and password.

RefMobile

RefMobile allows you to access your RefWorks account using a smartphone or hand-held device. Its interface is customized to accommodate a mobile device's smaller screen.

When logging in to RefMobile, you will need to use the subscriber code that was supplied to you via email after you registered for your individual account. If you no longer have that code, please call Reference Services at (216) 687-5300.
