When using the ERIC research database, you may come across an "ERIC number" at the top of the full citation record display (see below):
This indicates that the information you have found is contained in an "ERIC document." ERIC documents are generally unpublished materials, such as papers read at conferences or reports from state agencies as well as guides and books. Though there is no peer review process for ERIC documents, and they tend to be less scholarly in nature, they are still valuable resources for educators and students looking for information about teaching.
Documents published since 1993 are available online. Clicking on the
button will take you directly to a PDF version of the document.
At CSU, ERIC documents that are published between 1985 and 2004 are located in the Microforms area on the 1st Floor of the University Library. The ERIC documents are on microfiche, and there are microfiche readers and printers in that area. The microfiche is available at all hours that the University Library is open.
ERIC documents that were published prior to 1985 have been sent to remote storage. You may request these items by filling out the Remote Storage Retrieval Request Form.It takes about a week for the microfiche to be retrieved and delivered to University Library.
A small number of ERIC Documents refer to books that are not available on microfiche. Please check the SCHOLAR catalog or OhioLINK to obtain copies of these books.
