     President Enarson's remarks regarding Black Student demands,
including demands for a Black Studies program.  Approved Steering
Comm. creating a task force to consider with a sense of urgency the
establishment of additional courses in Black studies and to report
FC on the feasibility of a Black Studies Program.  "FC will be happy to
receive any proposal for educational reform through its Steering Comm.
and from students or faculty, either independently or in groups.

     Task Force on Black Studies report received.
 
8/14/70
     UCC report tabled and returned to Comm.
 
3/3/71
     Approved course requirements dealing with urban & social
problems of contemporary society (Group IV)
    Approved amended University graduation requirements in Black Studies.
 
6/2/71
     Approved four amendments to the Black Studies program proposal
(submitted 3/3/71) and adopted as Group IV requirements.
 
11/8/95
     Black Studies minor program approved.

     Relocated the Black Studies program to CLASS.
