Logo for the collectionThis series brings together major archival and manuscript collections of three of the major figures in the Black Power Movement in the U.S. in the 1960s and 1970s. Together, these primary source documents give “an important inside view of the dynamics of the mass movements for black liberation in the late 20th century.” Part 1 presents papers of Amiri Baraka (LeRoi Jones), from Black arts to Black radicalism; Part 2 covers the papers of Robert F. Williams; Part 3 presents the papers of the Revolutionary Action Movement, 1962-1996; and Part 4 covers files collected by General Gordon Baker, Jr. about the rise of League of Revolutionary Black Workers and the Dodge Revolutionary Union Movement, 1965-1976. The microfilms were produced by University Publications of America.

Physical Description

The microfilm set consists of 52 reels in total, and is located on the first floor of the University Library, by call number E185.61.B2 (pt. 1, pt. 2, pt. 3, pt.4). Guides to the content (with the same call numer) are located at Quick Reference at the west end of the first floor.

Print and electronic guides index the contents of each part, providing a summary of the importance of their subject and a detailed description of the documents covered. They are available in print (at Quick Reference E185.61 .B52) or in electronic format:
