Group Study on the 4th Floor

What You Need to Know:

  • The 4th floor is a Group Study Area with student project work centers at the west corners and photocopiers and an atrium at the east end.
  • Circulating books for languages, literature, science and medicine (call nos. P-Z) are shelved at the southwest end and print journals shelved on the north side.
  • Rentable lockers are located between the P-Q stacks.
Multimedia/Digital Production

What You Need to Know:

  • The Digital Production Unit (DPU) in RT 807 processes course materials for Electronic Course Reserves and can create digital and photographic reproductions in many formats that can be used by faculty or students in presentations or papers.
  • The general public can also request reproductions of images they find in Special Collections or on the Cleveland Memory website from DPU.
  • The service counter at RT 807 is also the contact point for Media Production, a service that provides video, audio, graphic arts, and multimedia for CSU's faculty and staff to enhance classroom teaching.
IVDL Classrooms and the Head End

What You Need to Know:

  • The Library has 4 Interactive Video Distance Learning (IVDL) classrooms on floors 7 & 8 that make it possible for instructors to teach groups of students in many locations at the same time using two-way, closed-circuit television.
  • These IVDL classrooms (RT 702, RT 801, RT 808, RT 813) are managed from one centralized location called the “head end” located in RT 705

Library Instruction Room

What You Need to Know:

  • RT 502 is just one of the state-of-the-art electronic classrooms in the Library used for Library instruction.
  • The room is equipped with an interactive touch-enabled projection screen and wireless laptops.
  • Faculty who are interested in services available through the Library Instruction and Information Literacy Program should contact Kathy Dobda, the Coordinator of Instruction, via email or at (216) 875-9738.
Library Administration Office

  • Located in RT 501, the Administrative Office is responsible for the management of the Michael Schwartz Library including its collections, services and facilities.
  • This is where you will find the office of Glenda Thornton, the Director of the Michael Schwartz Library .

The Student Collaboration Room

What You Need to Know:

  • The Student Collaboration Room in RT 402 accommodates 6 and may be booked for 2-hour sessions by stopping in at Multimedia Services in RT 301.
  • It contains two large whiteboards and a conference table complete with a 42" LCD monitor that can be used to display information on student laptops or other devices

The Contemporary Poetry Room

What You Need to Know:

  • The Hazel Collister Hutchison Contemporary Poetry Room (RT415), managed by the Library and the CSU Poetry Center, houses a major collection of contemporary poetry books and journals.
  • It is the only collection of its kind in northern Ohio and since it is kept locked, users must ask for the key at the Reference Center.
