Special Shelving Designators

Spine labels on most materials shelved in the Library contain only the Library of Congress classification number. However, there are instances where a special "shelving designator" is also indicated on the label to distinguish those items that require special shelving, or that may have special non, limited, or restricted circulation rules. These designators are located in capital letters, directly above the LC call number on the spine label.
