Library Carrels & Carrel Use

Locked study carrels are provided as a facility for CSU faculty who are engaged in research, and for doctoral students who are engaged in research related to their PhD dissertations. In some cases, applications from master's degree students will also be accepted when carrels are otherwise available

Fees

  • The annual rental fee is $30 payable in advance, and is non-refundable.
  • An initial deposit of $10 is required. The deposit is refundable upon return of the key and if an inspection of the carrel shows no damage to it

Rental Periods

  • The rental period is from September 1 through August 31.
  • Contingent upon availability and demand, faculty and doctoral students may renew carrels on an annual basis.

Applications

  • Applications for carrels are made in the Library Administration Office.
  • Faculty members are given preference in the assignment of carrels.
  • Both faculty and doctoral students may request to be placed on a waiting list when no carrels are available for rental.
  • Two persons may share a carrel if both parties agree to share fees.
