Video Production

This page is here to help you select the type of video taping services that best suits your needs. Please review each section seperately and then contact IMSS with your request or with any question. During this Pre-Production process, you can also discuss the amount of time your video taping will require as well as billing charges at that time.

Keep in mind that DV tapes record at a maximum of 90 minutes and that video shoots that last longer than this time will require switching tapes if only one camera is requested. You may wish to consider this factor if loss of information is a critical issue.

Single Camera Stright-Shoot

A Single camera straight-shoot is the simplest video taping scenario, either in the IMSS Video Studio or on location. As the name implies, a single DV camera is used for your taping. There is no Post-Production involved, such as editing, titles, graphics, etc. Your DV video taping is then transfered to either VHS or DVD or both. If you have DV playback or editing capabilities, you may request just the tape itself. This offers the fastest turnaround time. Examples of a Single-Camera Straight Shoot include classroom lectures, event recording, etc.

Single-Camera with Post

The Post indicates Post-Production. Same as above but with editing, such as adding titles and/or graphics, editing for content or continuity, color correction or any special effect or need. Depending on the scope of the project, it may take longer than the normal two-week turnaround time for completion.

Two-Camera Shoot

A two camera shoot automatically requires Post-Production as the two (or more) tapes utilized need to be edited into a single work. And, as two video cameras are required, two camera operators are required as well. This kind of shoot can also be done either in the IMSS Video Studio or on location. However, not all location shoots may lend themselves to a Two-Camera Shoot. Time for set-up, location layout, and space are all factors as well as audio considerations. This type of shoot, because of the potential complexity, will require more extensive Pre-Production planning.

Please note that all of IMSS' Production areas are available 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday. Video tapings can be scheduled for times between 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday and Saturdays 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. However, for video tapings after 5:00 PM weekdays and on Saturdays, IMSS cannot guarantee we will be able to fill your needs for a Two-Camera Shoot. This is why it is very important that you discuss your needs with IMSS during the Pre-Production process.
