The CSU Library maintains membership in the Center for Research Libraries (CRL), a consortium of North American colleges and universities that has developed a major collection of primary source materials for advanced research. Most of this material is rarely held in libraries. CRL's holdings include important publications from around the world, including newspapers, international doctoral dissertations, government documents, foreign language journals, and major microfilm sets.
CRL is increasingly cataloging its materials that are then accessible though OhioLINK's Central Catalog.
The CRL website provides detailed information about the center's collections:
There is a CRL online catalog, various specialized databases, and online brochures relating to specific subject areas and projects. Inquires regarding CRL holdings may be sent to the CRL Access Services Department.
CRL materials are available to faculty at member libraries for extended loan periods without limitation as to the frequency or amount of material borrowed. CSU faculty may borrow material directly using the request function on the OhioLINK Central Catalog unless items are marked "Local Use Only." In these cases, material is circulated through the interlibrary loan process. To initiate an ILL request for CRL material, contact the Interlibrary Loan Office at (216) 687-2445, or use the online request form.
